The Extension Method that Everyone’s Talking About

The Luna and Mauve Method, aka The Luna Method, is a revolutionary hair extension technique that sets a new standard for comfort, speed, and safety in the industry. Developed by Ashlee Leeper in 2019, this invisible-beaded-weft method has quickly gained a reputation for its exceptional quality and comfort, and is currently patent pending.

Cierra, a Luna Method trainer based in Sacramento, CA.

Meet Your Educator

Want to learn The Luna Method without having to travel hundreds (or sometimes thousands) of miles? With someone who knows what it’s like to have to build your own table when a seat wasn’t offered?

Meet Cierra (she/they), 31, west coast weirdo, here for the freaks and geeks. They’ve been in the industry for ten years, and originally come from a performance art & customer service background.

Behind the chair, she’s known for her expertise in Alternative hair: unconventional cuts, stand-out vivids and extensions for even the wildest whims. Whether it’s giving beachy Barbie blonde and length, correcting an unfortunate haircut, or making a mullet out of thin air, Cierra has you covered. In Edu and mentoring, they specialize in content creation, advanced vivid color techniques, and creating safe spaces for lgbtqia+/neurodivergent people in beauty environments.

Cierra says this about their time with the Luna Method:

“I was totally obsessed from the moment I took the class, to be completely honest!! As a neurodivergent person, I don’t think I’ve EVER felt so seen and considered in a class setting. And since integrating Luna behind the chair, it’s changed a lot of aspects of my business–I’m more openly curious, I pay more attention to the details, and I work harder to elevate my skills and my client experience.”

In line with their personal activism, they believe that looking good and feeling good go hand-in-hand with doing good, and they work daily to incorporate that philosophy into every aspect of their business.

As a Certified Danger Jones Expert, Artist/Elite Educator for The Luna Method, and a Touring Independent Educator, they prioritize products and companies that not only create beautiful, consistent results, but also maintain low-tox ingredients, sustainable and ethical practices, and give back to communities and causes.

Outside the salon you can bet they’re probably playing Dungeons & Dragons, engaging in local activism efforts, travelling and cosplaying at conventions, or occasionally exploring haunted sites. They’re SO excited for this new (yet home-y) journey, and can’t wait to help guide you to become the bold, knowledgeable, and confident extension artist you’re meant to be!

Tension, Compression, and Even Distribution of Weight

When you prevent excessive stress on individual strands, you reduce the likelihood of hair breakage or thinning.

Our method allows for natural movement, avoids tightness that could cause discomfort or damage, and utilizes the bone structure to support the extensions, rather than the beads themselves.

Low Profile & Less Risk

No adhesives, less than 20 beads, and no bulky connections—that means a sleek, undetectable and easy to maintain setup, and no scalp or follicle irritation.

Thanks to our science-backed and physics-informed methodology, the majority of clients can go 8 weeks between row adjustments (though this can vary).

Comfortable and Customizable

The Luna Method is fully adaptable: Different hair types, densities, textures, and growth patterns are all considered. Options exist for maximum and minimum amounts of hair, whether you want length or volume or both, and even “split” or “mini” rows to truly tailor your extension experience to your needs and wants.
